8x8 Mobile App | Troubleshooting
Summary This article pertains to personal devices. The IT department has limited control over the use of 8x8 on personal mobile phones. The company does not deploy MDM (Mobile Device Management) for personal devices, and installing the 8x8 Work app is voluntary. The user bears responsibility for the app. Below are some troubleshooting steps you can try. Please be advised that the IT department does not have the expertise to support the app since this is an 8x8 created application. Troubleshooting 1. Try rebooting your mobile phone. If there are phone updates, allow them and make sure the phone reboots. 2. If rebooting the phone doesn't fix the issue, delete the app. Download the app again and reinstall it. 3. Verify there isn't a network issue. 8x8 works using data from the internet. Check your WiFi or if you're on a cell tower signal, make sure there isn't an outage. 4. Check the status of 8x8. Please click here for status. 5. If you are not seeing the 'Login with Organization' option in the password entry page, please type your e-mail address in the Username/E-mail field manually and do not use an Autocomplete/Saved option to fill it in. 6. If there is no issue with the previous steps, verify there isn't an account issue by opening 8x8 Work on your laptop. Account issues usually affect the 8x8 desktop app as well as the 8x8 mobile app. If there is a problem with your account, create an incident with IT. 7. If you're not getting notifications or you can't hear anything, make sure you check the settings of your phone. Androids and IOSs have their own Notifications and Sound settings. If you're unsure how to access your phone settings, please look up your phone through Google. Lastly, make sure your phone is not in DND do not disturb or set on vibration only. If none of the steps work above, you can ultimately contact 8x8 customer support. 1 (888) 898-8733.

You can repeat this process 2~3 times if don’t see “IrDA infrared” in the first attempt. Some company’s IT departments are managing all the PCs by third party anti-virus and Windows defender software, and blocking to show up Windows and other updates, or prevents to install. In this regard, you have to contact your IT experts to disable third-party and Windows defender for couple of minutes, check for the Windows updates, install it and re-activate/enable security software. d) No IrDA communication with opposite IR-enabled device even after IR dongle driver installed properly in NEW, factory default, Windows 11 OS computers, Workaround for a missing Infrared Monitor Service: Infrared Monitor Service handles management and file transfers using infrared devices. This service is only installed if infrared devices are available/supported on the PC. We and some customers have noticed that the "Infrared monitor service" is missing from a brand new, factory default installed Windows 11 OS computers' list of services. The users have to activate/enable the "IrDA Infrared" feature from the Microsoft available optional features list, which displays the "Infrared monitor service" in the services lists. Infrared monitor service check and start/stop process: i) Type in “Services” in the Windows search bar, right-click "Services" and run as an administrator when it appears in the search results, and then scroll down list to find “Infrared monitor service”. ii) Right-click “Infrared monitor service” and select Properties. iii) In the Startup Type box, select “Automatic”, and service status “START”, then click OK. iv) Be sure that you have started the service successfully by checking the properties of it again. Furthermore, an old Windows 10 OS based computers updated to Windows 11, users must uninstall the pre-installed "IrDA Infrared" from the installed features and then re-enable/activate it, which displays "Infrared monitor service" in the services lists. There is NO NEED to re-install the ACT-IR402xU-v1.3 compatible driver, which was previously installed, and the SAME driver works. Please follow the following if you don’t see “Infrared Monitor Service” in the Windows services list: Please uninstall the "IrDA infrared” component from the installed features. Right click “Start” icon à Click Installed apps à In the left panel Search Box type in “Add optional feature” and select it à In right panel, Installed features à Click IrDA infrared and select “Uninstall”. Follow the above mentioned 2) a), b) and c) instructions, to re-activate/enable “IrDA Infrared” feature from the optional features list, and the “Infrared monitor service” will show up in the services list. Please ensure to start the “Infrared monitor service” from services by the above described “Infrared monitor service check and start/stop process” before proceeding for IR data transfer between two IR devices. Windows Error Code 39 WORKAROUND/FIX, for Windows 10/11: To resolve Windows error code 39, turn “Off” your "Memory integrity" feature on your PC. How do I manage memory integrity? In most cases memory integrity is “On” by default in Windows 11, and can be turned on for Windows 10. To turn it on or off: i) Click the Windows Search icon and type “Core isolation”. ii) Select the Core Isolation system settings from the search results to open the Windows security app. On the Core isolation page, you’ll find Memory integrity along with the toggle to turn it on or off. Make it OFF. b) Repeat the above 1) described steps to install driver successfully if necessary. Warning: Once driver issue is resolved, be sure “Immediately” re-activate/re-enable your full network security! This will not impact new driver or features you just installed, which is already embedded into your computer O.S.! 4) Future Windows O.S. beyond 10/11, may remove internal IrDA driver as in initial Windows 10/11 release, but with no Microsoft remedy! If so, ACT-IR2012UL will not work. But, we already have ready solution, ACT-IR100UDv3-XX, as below: Several of our large customers did detail tests under Windows 10/11 OS and concluded that, i) It works only in one way communication, able to download data from Medical IR device to PC, not able to upload/configure Medical IR device from PC. ii) Throughput is ~7X slower in Windows 10/11 OS than previous editions of Windows XP/Vista/7/8 OS. Those customers are using our ready and popular only alternative solution USB-IrDA Intelligent dongle, ACT-IR100UDv3-XX, which embeds standard IrObex protocol inside our own micro-controller, in this IrDA dongle. But, each customer’s IrObex has different flavor, which needs to be analyzed and customized for IrDA dongle, hence “-XX”. a) It creates virtual Comm port, and interfaces with Windows 10/11 via simple USB-UART bridge IC, whose driver has always been timely available for Windows, Mac, Linux, etc. O.S.! b) Further, it also supports Android Smartphones or tablets now. ACT-IR100UDv3-XX Flyer: http://www.actisys.com/flyer/ACT-IR100UD-v2_v3-Flyer-v1.0.4-150923.pdf We suggest: a) You may try above driver & Windows 10/11 OS workaround fix and advise us, your test result and throughput comparison? b) Concurrently we can work with you, to prepare ACT-IR100UDv3-XX. i) Please arrange to loan us, your IR-enabled device so we may test and analyze it for you. ii) Depends on the complexity of customizing IR100UDv3-XX to your spec, NRE= nominal fee (depending on the complexity of your IrObex flavor and how much to re-use our existing code). iii) We have many USB-IrDA dongle customers who paid NRE to get IR100UDv3-XX customized. Lead-time is 3 now, may soon extend to 6 months! We also hire outside consultant now, to share such increasing workload. Therefore, please do act soon, to avoid long delay of getting your IR100UDv3-XX! For IrObex customization, please advise on below: a) What is your special Windows Receive software, or use some standard modem utility software? b) In what file format do you capture incoming data? c) We’ll work with you to ready such utility software to test your customized ACT-IR100UDv3-XX. 5) If you get stuck anywhere during installation of drivers and workarounds, or the problem is still unsolved: ACTiSYS Tech-Support will do it for you!
